Frequently asked questions

How much does junk removal cost?

In Calgary, published prices we reviewed (October 2026) range from about $75–$110 for a minimum job to $450–$600+ for a full truckload. See the cost guide for item prices and surcharges.

How much is junk removal per cubic yard?

Calgary haulers usually price by truck fraction. With many trucks holding about 12–15 cubic yards, a full load works out to roughly $30–$50 per cubic yard.

What does single item junk removal cost?

Expect the hauler’s minimum or a set item price: around $75–$110 for most single items, about $75–$95 for a mattress and $90–$110 for a fridge on Calgary price lists we reviewed.

Can junk removal companies remove single items?

Yes. Single couches, mattresses, appliances and hot tubs are common jobs.

Can junk removal companies pick up from inside?

Yes. Crews normally carry items out from any room, basement, attic or garage. Tell them about stairs and tight spaces in advance.

How do I find junk removal with same-day availability?

Submit your request early, include photos or a detailed list, and be flexible on timing. We forward urgent requests as soon as they arrive.

How do I book a same-day junk removal pickup?

Use the quote form, choose today as the preferred date, and describe the items and access. The hauler confirms whether it can attend today and at what price.

What is the best junk removal service?

One that gives a clear written price, confirms its licence and insurance, explains where items go, and has recent genuine reviews. Price alone is not the best measure.

What junk removal companies are eco-friendly?

Companies that sort loads, donate usable items and recycle metal, electronics, drywall, wood and tires. Ask your hauler what share of a typical load it diverts from landfill.

Is there a free junk removal service?

Only in limited cases: charity pickups for good furniture, scrap recyclers for some appliances, and free City Community Cleanup events. See free furniture removal in Calgary.

Where can I throw away furniture?

At a City of Calgary Landfill and Eco Centre (East Calgary, Shepard or Spyhill), at a seasonal Community Cleanup event, or through a junk removal service. See furniture removal.

What do I do with old TVs?

Take them to a City Eco Centre or electronics recycling depot. Eco Centres accept TVs free when brought on their own. See electronics recycling in Calgary.

Who will pick up an old refrigerator for free?

Some scrap metal recyclers accept fridges, and working units may be sold or donated. Otherwise, expect the City’s $17 refrigerant surcharge plus weight charges, or a hauler fee. See appliance removal.

How do I dispose of old appliances?

Cooling appliances go to an Eco Centre or a recycler that handles refrigerant. Washers, dryers and stoves are scrap metal and can go to a landfill or private scrap recycler.

How do I get rid of an old sofa?

Donate or sell it if it is in good condition. Otherwise take it to an Eco Centre, a Community Cleanup event, or book a removal.

Do junk removal companies donate items?

Many do, because donating usable items avoids landfill fees. Ask your hauler if it matters to you.

Do you haul the junk yourselves?

No. TrueNorth Junk Removal is a referral service. Independent local haulers do the work and set the final price.

Is my information shared?

Only with the hauler(s) who will quote your job, and only after you tick the consent box. See our privacy policy.
